Founded in 1994, Miller Newberg is a full-service actuarial consulting firm devoted to more than 50 clients in the life and annuity insurance markets. Miller Newberg (MN) is a team of professionals—credentialed actuaries and actuarial technicians—who are here to help your team accomplish your goals.

Simply stated, our focus is advocating the interests of our clients while adhering to professional codes and standards of practice. We do so by first understanding our clients’ goals, and ultimately, by working closely with their management teams to achieve those goals. We know we’ve got it right when a client refers to us as “part of the team.” One of the highest compliments we get is when a board member tells us “I know you’re an actuary, but I understood every word you said.”

We are all about quality. We are passionate about delivering excellence with equal parts creativity and tenacity. With each project, we strive to exemplify our core values (see right panel). By continually networking with other actuaries and other leaders, and through attending, participating, and speaking at various industry, professional, and association meetings throughout the year, we stay current with the spectrum of issues facing our industry.

We recognize the importance of attracting and retaining talented people. We are fortunate to have an experienced, creative, enthusiastic, and dedicated team to serve our clients. Our professional staff goes through extensive continuing education and professional development programs. Our entire life team has hands on experience with AXIS, a leading actuarial software system. In fact, other users of AXIS regularly seek us out for our expertise, and we have been granted permission to use “Specialists in AXIS Applications” in our consulting practice.

Our broad-based experience derives from working across the entire life insurance spectrum: mutual and stock insurance companies, fraternal benefit societies, reinsurers, audit firms, holding companies, boards of directors, national marketing organizations, investment bankers, third-party administrators, state insurance departments, municipalities, trusts, risk managers, accounting firms, law firms, and other actuarial firms. We are the full-time actuarial department for over half of our clients, working seamlessly with their management teams. For other clients, we deliver “bench strength” as needed for large and complex projects. Our clients range from recently capitalized start-ups to $125 billion century old enterprises. Our focus includes fraternal benefit societies, start-up stock companies, actuarial audits for independent CPA firms, and actuarial examinations for state regulators.
